Nine Black Alps Return

by

nine black alps locked out from the inside Nine Black Alps ReturnAfter what seems like an eternity Nine Black Alps return with a new album.  It has in fact only been two and a half years since they released their 3rd studio album, Locked Out From The Inside, but a lot has changed since then – most notably the departure of, part time bassist/part time guitarist, Martin Cohen (Cohen left to form new project Milk Maid).

The band posted an update on their website last month after completing the album.  Although they were not giving too much away they did say the following: “It sounds tight, alive and bright and kind of like ‘a record’ – kind of fast and direct with the odd weird bit”.

Playing their cards close to their chests the band are still undecided on how exactly it is going to be released. The band parted company with Island Records after the release of their second album, 2007′s Love/Hate, since then they have released all singles and albums themselves.

Currently untitled the new album is due to be released late spring/early summer and with rumours of a tour and the possibility of festival appearances; 2012 could be a busy year for the Manchester lads – which begs the question who will take Cohen’s place? A resourceful bunch I’m sure they’ll be fine.

In the meantime the bands frontman, Sam Forrest, will be doing a few solo shows around the UK in support of his new solo album,The Edge Of Nowhere, which is on sale now. Apparently if you go down to his shows and ask for Nine Black Alps songs, he may well play them.

Sam’s solo dates are as follows:

  •  April 5 Preston Mad Ferret
  •  April 6 York Duchess
  •  April 7 Stockton Vault
  •  April 23 London Social
  •  April 28 Arbroath Coast
  •  May 11 Manchester FAC251
  •  May 20 Doncaster Leopard
  •  May 25 Sunderland The Attic
  •  June 6 Birmingham Yardbird
  •  June 29 Kilmarnock Dirty Martinis
  •  June 30 Bathgate The Attic
  •  July 27 Dundee Dexters
