If you’re like me you’ve probably been wondering what the catchy ditty is that features on the T4/E4 advert, doing the rounds on channel 4 at the moment. Well wonder no more - I can reveal that it is the sensational Black Lips with their song Modern Art.
From their sixth studio album, Arabia Mountain, released June last year (Vice Records), Modern Art was their second single to be taken from the album, which was produced predominantly by Mark Ronson.
No stranger to their songs being used for promotional purposes this is the 3rd song from Arabia mountain to be used in such a manner. Their lead single, New Direction, was used by an American TV channel and album track, The Lie, was used on the soundtrack of Need For Speed: The Run.
The band hail from Atlanta, Georgia, USA and describe themselves as ‘Flower Punk’. ‘Flower Punk’, from what I can make out, means they have all the dirt and grime from the punk scene with a psychedelic edge, making for an extremley accessible sound. Don’t take my word for it – check them out yourself.
Further listening check out Veni Vidi Vici from their 2007 album Good Bad Not Evil.
