We have rooms at The Beach Hotel and had to leave when the smell of smoke got a little much

We watched it… We had to leave the foyer and then watch it get worse and worse. Rather sad

Over 100 fire-fighters attended the blaze which was reported to have started at the rear of the property; Fire crews tackling the blaze at the Falmouth Beach Hotel could be seen using sea water to help dampen the site.

The police have confirmed that 3 people are still “unaccounted for”.

Falmouth mayor Geoffrey Evans said “Losing such a prominent hotel at this time of year is a complete disaster. It’s right at the start of the holiday season and we’ve got the Olympic Torch coming.
