Frank Carter’s glorious direction

by

purelove Frank Carters glorious directionI didn’t like Gallows; so when Frank Carter announced he was leaving i wasn’t too fussed. In fact it didn’t move me at all.

His new project with Jim Carroll (Hope Conspiracy) was rumoured to be a step in a different direction. I still didn’t hold out much hope, I doubt I was alone.

Pure Love was the different direction and it has been, in my opinion, a step in a fucking glorious direction.

Handsome Devils’ Club is their second release (Bury My Bones - Free Download). There’s a melody and a really good one at that. The words are recognisable. There’s still a little edge in Carter’s vocals and his performance on stage does seem to cage the beast within, he is definietly holding back, I imagine it’s hard to break the habit of jumping off speaker stacks and smashing microphones into your head.

I understand that Frank had not been happy in Gallows for sometime and now I see why. He obviously needed an outlet for his happy playful side which the screaming punch-fest known as Gallows wasn’t offering.

I can’t wait to hear what is next from this duo. I’m expecting good things from their album as they are working with producer Gil Norton (Pixies, Foo Fighters).

Handsome Devils’ Club is out 23rd July with the album due out sometime in the summer.

  • Its personally prefer the mic on head smashing Frank Carter, but I suppose he needed a rest before he did himself permanent damage. Gallows were an awesome live band with Frank at the helm.

This stuff does however sound interesting!!
