I hadn’t heard of this band or heard the track until yesterday and then I heard it twice, from two separate sources, in quick succession – that’s all it took, I’m now hooked. Earphone distorting bass lines, chiming synthesisers and angelic vocals make perfect music for the heat wave we are currently experiencing. Plug in, press play and try and keep the smile from spreading across your face as you stride down the street in the sunshine, absorbing the lyrics “With the sun on my back it’s a nice day/I will never choose any other way” - I couldn’t agree more.
Swim Deep are a 3 piece from Birmingham. Listing themselves as ‘Grunge Pop’ their look seems to tick the grunge box whilst their sound definitely has a pop influence swimming through it.
Released May 14th via Chess Club let’s hope the good weather and great music continues
