Are The Smiths really about to reform??
There is a buzz in the air as rumours appear to be indicating that Morrissey and Johnny Marr have kissed, made up and decided to reform the Smiths for a series of live gigs this autumn.
Johnny Marr has tweeted ‘Hey Everybody !! Amazing news !….My amp is fixed ! Johnny’ and also updated his Twitter profile to include The Smiths as the first band in the list of the many he plays with.
The band last performed live together in 1987 and have been through several legal battles since, public slaggings and a long bitter period of silence but it would appear that this has been overcome. Early speculation is that the Stone Roses reunion is the fuel behind this wonderful fire. After turning down over $70,000,000 previously to reform we hope it’s not for the cash, surely Morrissey is a man of higher principles than that?
Even if this is one for the cash I can honestly say I am very nearly as happy as I was when the Stone Roses announced their comeback tour – I can’t wait to ‘possibly’ see the Manchester doom mongers in action.
