I had the good fortune of catching The Vex live when they recently supported local hero’s The Wholl’s at Bedford Esquires.
They walked on stage and stood there with their backs to the crowd and started to play and as they started to play I smiled.
Why was I smiling you ask? Well that’s simple. Its because these guys play Rock n Roll the way its meant to be played – loud, brash, fast & dripping with attitude!!
They strut their stuff on stage, ooze confidence & London attitude. These guys are as cool as penguins piss and they know it!
Their sound appears to draw influence from bands like The Clash, The Jam & The Damned but despite the legendary bands listed they are by no means a carbon copy & they most definitely bring their own modern twist to the table.
I go to lots of gigs and it is very rare that a band will have my jaw on the floor but The Vex managed to do this!
What also had my jaw on the floor was when I found out they had only been together since January, they sounded like a well oiled, tight knit machine that had been together for years.
This is good old fashioned balls out Rock n Roll that is very refreshing to hear a young band playing.
I recommend you catch these guys live when you have the chance, I most certainly will be in the not so distant future so watch out for a full live review!
Defiantly a band to watch out for in the future and remember who told you so.
Check out the 4 songs they have on Sound Cloud, The Revolutionaries & Fools Desire are my personal favourites
If this does not convince you to check them out live then there’s something wrong with you!
